OBJECTIVE: As the goodwill arm of the Silver City-Grant County Chamber of Commerce, the objective of the PROSPECTORS is to contribute to the long-range improvements of the economic conditions in the Grant County area.  To accomplish this objective, the PROSPECTORS will develop goals to best utilize county and community natural and human resources, and will serve as a catalyst to activate service clubs, units of government, and appropriate groups or organizations in overall economic development activities.

Membership meetings: are generally held the fourth Thursday of the month at noon.*

CLAC meetings: held the third Monday of the month at 10 a.m.*

Membership: Members of the Prospectors must be members in good standing of the Silver City-Grant County Chamber of Commerce. Membership is limited to 50 individuals. Anyone interested in becoming a member may contact the Chamber Director, any of the officers of Prospectors, or the Chair of the Membership Committee.

News

New Committees: Committees for Prospectors are open for 2010-2011. Please contact President Zamora if you are interested in serving. A signup sheet will be passed at the March membership meeting.

State Transportation Commission Meeting: The Prospectors' successfully hosted the NM Transportation Commissioner's monthly meeting in Silver City on February 25, 2010. A reception was held Wednesday evening, breakfast and lunch sponsored with community partners was provided during the meeting on Thursday.

2010 Legislative Trip to Santa Fe...
Prospectors had a successful trip to Santa Fe. Cabinet Secretary meetings were set up with the State Engineer, Taxation and Revenue, Governor Richardson and Economic Development.  The Legislative Reception was well attended even with the nasty weather.

The Silver City Grant County Prospectors successfully hosted their annual Legislative Forum in Silver City on Monday, December 7, 2009.
The Silver City Grant County Prospectors successfully hosted the Water and Natural Resources Interim Committee in Silver City on Monday, September 21st and Tuesday, September 22nd, 2010.

Gila San Francisco Water Settlement

Water really is the most precious resource today!  This is evident in the number of rules, regulations, court cases and legislation that are enacted, determined and passed every day.  Finding ways to reserve this greatest resource for future generations while supporting growth, agriculture and other needs is our greatest challenge.
